Holding Other Assets on the Platform

Hi there,

Just started trading today, love this app! It's great for trading.

My question is: Can I hold anything else besides MPH on this platform? For example, since my withdrawls are locked for 185 days, am I able to be "sitting" with say USDC, BTC, or another asset instead of MPH tokens? I'd like to "lock" in profits.

Or, is there no way to be holding anything except MPH while using the app?

Speggos Dollar neutral trading is definitely in the works in one from or another later down the line. As Ivan noted though not available at the moment.

Hi @Speggos ,

Morpher is a trading platform, and MPH is our settlement currency. While you can use your MPH to stake other assets, you can't buy actual USDC or BTC on the platform, or exchange your MPH. Basically, you can only hold MPH while using the app.

denis Is Euro neutral trading also something the Morpher team is working on? I thought I read about it somewhere on the Morpher site -- perhaps it was in the whitepaper, but that's more interesting for me as a European citizen and if both USD and EUR neutral trading is offered I would be able to switch if I see a potential weakness in the Dollar, MPH or Euro.

I do not know the intricacies of how dollar/euro neutral trading would work, but I wonder though what kind of effect it would have on the demand and supply of MPH, as demand would probably decrease as people would more often offer their MPH in order to receive their USD/EUR. If too many people would do that it could be problematic, as the main currency of the platform is Morpher and it would be nice if MPH either remains stable or shows an increase in value, otherwise there is decreased incentive to trade with MPH.

Thanks everybody for clarifying! So, if I wanted to "tether up", so to speak, there aren't any solutions currently?

If not, is there an approximate timeline or roadmap for that being implemented?

Speggos If you fund your account via "Deposit & Earn" it does indeed lock you in from withdrawing. You can invest in other assets (gold, indices, other hedges) or keep it your account as just MPH.

Speggos Yep so no Tether option, only MPH is supported on our sidechain where trading happens. Timeline for dollar/euro neutral trading is Q4 2021 (earliest).

mrfishes I think your assessment is spot on, this works best when MPH has a bigger market cap / higher liquidity. And dollar neutral is easiest for many small trading accounts, not whales. Depends on the type of hedging we do ourselves for the dollar/euro neutrality.
